Twenty-twenty WHATTTT????!!!!
Hello, Hello, HELLO! It's me, Marq! How are you? How's life? Doing good because I wanted to know (Glozell Green). What's good, people? *Waits for response* I am doing fine, thank you. As always, I waited 10,000 years to make a new blog post, so I have a lot to catch you upon. I will make it simple and cute, VET SCHOOL. So how will this go; I think I will start with vet school, then life after my first year, to my business. Let's go.
Vet school. As mentioned previously, it is challenging. They start with an introductory course (my experience) for the first half of the semester, then the last half is CRAZZYYY. Honestly, I enjoyed the second course, I actually did better than the first (which is the "easy course", as upperclassmen say). I love learning about Dz (diseases) and how to cure them. It makes me think about a career in veterinary research, but nahhhhh I don't think it is for me. This is interesting because I am currently a research assistant on campus (crazy Marq wants to go party downtown, I just might, I have an urge to go. I know I shouldn't, but why nottttttttt lol). Sitting here after listening to a few songs got me feeling invincible let's go F stuff up and leave, lol. I know DT is probably popping. The voice in my head says no but another voice,,,,, says go lmao. Back to vet school. The last portion of the semester was also tough, M+S, S+S, baby; hard af. But cool. I made it through, some nights I struggled with the stress of life and school (I just sent a text to my neighbor to go DT,,,,, he's probably boo'd up or whatever). But I am here, lol. Do not judge me. Pause. I'll be back.
[UPDATE] I did end up going out that night. Learned a valuable lesson. Blacksburg on Sunday is NOT it. Top of the Stairs (TOTs) is the most popping bar here. Guess what! They were TF closed. So I was drawn into The Coop by its tantalizing music. Still disappointed. A weird guy approached me and asked me to dance as soon as I walked in like boyyyyyy sit down. I ended up getting my fav. If you know me, Tito shots. My interesting friend is still sitting beside me. Asks me to watch his drink while he goes "smoke" like, what the freak, you don't know me. If I was someone else, anything could have happened to this drink. Being the good guy that I am, I watched it until he returned. Then I left. So that was that night at least three weeks ago from finishing this post.
Back to important things. Towards the end of the semester, the restrictions lessened on the COVID situation, so FINALLY, we could actually meet our classmates. We went out, hung out, partied had a good time. Went tubing on the river, had plenty of bonfires, a much-needed summer to recuperate from the hectic school year. But honestly, after the first semester, the idea of vet school becomes normalized. I found myself less stressed about "being here," still a little stressed about the material, but I guess that "honeymoon phase" of I am in vet school, my dream was to be in vet school wore off (still love it here, but reality set in and it is a lot of work). Now we just have to get through these next few years. I cannot recall any other crazy moments towards the end of the year (probably because I blocked it out) but let's talk about year one summer.
To start, as previously mentioned, I am a research assistant in a parasitology lab. In a nutshell, we receive samples throughout the week, some days more than others, but the samples consist of poop. Supposedly from goat/sheep, but we have had some questionable samples, but I digresssssss. We weigh the poop and float the eggs (people in the vet field know what I am talking about). We then spend HOURSSSSS counting eggs that can possibly cause sicknesses in the animals. Fun stuff. I have also had a few gigs, including house sitting (what I am currently doing as I write).
